Charles River - Newton

Went out today and was shocked when I landed two small Northern Pike. I didn't expect to find them here but caught them both by the Needham/Newton Bridge. Later that day I caught the biggest Bass I've caught all summer, a 20 1/2 inch monster which caused me to sign up to MA Fish Finder here and log my account. :)

  • Hmmm, I'm new to MA fishing, so I guess it could be a pickerel. I thought Pike had the dark green back and pickerel had spots on top? I guess the head is a bit small for a Pike, but they weren't that big (for Pike) from my experience. I'll have to research "pickerel" as I've heard the term, but never caught one before. Thanks for the info!

  • Those look like pickerel to me. Nice bass!
