Snowy Afternoon Stripers

Went to the mystic river to try for some holdovers in the saltwater side. First cast probably a 30 incher followed by a schoolie. Both caught on a swim shad. Couldn't believe it! Heading back this weekend.

  • I could see the location from google map. but couldn't find the lochs?

fish above dam or below the dam?

  • ive tried a few times only caught a few in the same spot for 2 days. thats in my backyard during the super warm winter we had. no one ever thought there being holdovers there.

    other then that. got skunked

  • Right at the lochs by the parking lot. It's in Somerville by winter hill yacht club. First time trying for hold overs. I've done well there in my kayak in the summer.

  • dude thats awesome

  • Any advice where I can begin fish at this river? I might go at next week when I have free time

  • Water was really high, about dead high, not much flow

  • how fast was the water running down there? I imagine the locks were open. I was at the dam between upper and lower lake, the water was flowing right over the spillway wall. Never seen it that high.
