Went out to fish for Eel's so that I coul use them for both bait and chum. We cought about 45 Eel's that ranged in sizes from 15 inches to 36 inches. these 36 inch monsters put up a huge fight! WOW, it was fun.... They also make great chum for when Strippers come in.....

Memorial Day Camping at Worthington National Park.

This Camp Site is well worth the Drive/Stay. Worthington National Park has many Sites along the river (I stayed in Site # 31 and My brother in Site # 29 which sits about 100-150 feet above the River water line, my site was approximately 30 feet above the water line.
This Park also has a free boat launch for those who stay at the park.
A word of caution the average depth in this area is 2 feet so if you do not have a jet drive motor you will not be able to go to far. However for those of you who do not have a Jet drive (Like Me!) You can still bring your boat. The area around the boat launch is deep enough for you to easily maneuver here aprox 9 feet deep according to my Lowrance fish finder. If you feel adventurous you can then try to go north on the river passing the rocky flats (In front of my Cam site) to an area that is perfect for fishing with water running around 10 feet deep with a sandy bottom. Here was some great fishing too.

Now back to what we did, with the river so close I would walk over to the river with my t4 year old son and cast out a few times then come back to the site (We did this at least 10 – 15 times thought the day and night . Small Mouth Bass, Trout and even a Lampreia were among the few fish that we caught.
We camped for three nights and four day’s only 50 feet from the river. The First two day’s we fished the river banks due to overcast weather. We were able to catch a few species off the banks. On the third day finally we had a break Full Sunshine; I took my14 foot bass boat out for a spin. The water was crystal clear and about 58 degrees.
This park is well worth it! Bring the Kids.

Best Bait to use is scented worms or buzz baits. I will upload the type that I used once I get the Pictures on to my Drive.

P.S. I Plan to be back up there for 2009 Memorial day weekend. Drop By to see me and we can all go Fishing on the River.
